THE ORIGINAL FAMILY STORE · ROSKILDE, DENMARK

It began with a general store.
And a commitment to the community.

Jacobsen & Leegaard traces its roots back to 1918, when the Leegaard family founded a general store in Roskilde, Denmark, supplying agricultural machinery and colonial goods to the local community.

OUR EVOLUTION

New horizons.
The same
conviction.

1918 — TODAY
1984

An early belief in clean energy

Niels Leegaard Rydder developed an interest in clean energy well before renewables became a mainstream cause. In 1984, he relocated to California to lead Micon Wind Turbines, Inc., a new original equipment manufacturer in the wind turbine industry.

1994

Building at a new scale

As Chairman and CEO of Oak Creek Energy Systems, Rydder helped originate the landmark 2 GW Alta wind energy projects in Mojave, California. He subsequently shifted the company’s primary operations to Mexico, a move that would define its next chapter.

2016

A new chapter for a familiar name

Jacobsen & Leegaard, Inc. launched in 2016, initially headquartered in Escondido, California.

2025

Looking ahead, across borders

The company relocated its headquarters to Las Vegas, Nevada, while deepening its investment in Mexico as a renewable energy developer across wind, solar, and battery energy storage technologies.
